Neck Lift

A neck lift is a highly sought after procedure in both men and women. As the face ages, there is gradual sagging of the neck due to loose skin and excess fat. A neck lift can often make patients appear 10 years younger and while it does not stop the clock, it does provide consistently superior aesthetic outcomes and overall patients are very satisfied.

For those with droopy neck skin, platysmal bands and fat deposits, a direct neck lift and platysmaplasty can be performed. With this procedure, a small incision is made below the chin to remove excess fat and tighten the neck muscles (platysmaplasty) and another incision is made around the ear extending into the hair line to remove excess skin. The recovery time is usually 2-3 weeks but patients often return to work sooner. A neck lift is most often combined with a facelift to improve jowling and also rejuvenate the face.

In some male patients, another option is available that helps reduce excess fat and skin in the central neck responsible for the “turkey neck” appearance. For this procedure, direct removal of skin is performed in the central neck with incisions hidden in the natural creases. All patients are evaluated to offer them the safest yet most effective option to address their concerns.
