PRP (Plasma) for Hair Loss

Hair Restoration Using Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an innovative hair restoration procedure used to promote new hair growth around thinning areas. In the past PRP has been utilized as a regenerative technique to aid in the healing process after an injury orsurgery. Today, technological advancements have led to the use of PRP for hair loss restoration. Both men and women suffer from hair loss, and over 50% of the population will experience thinning hair as they age. Hairloss in both men and women can be a source of distress leading to lack of confidence. While there are surgical approaches to address hair loss, PRP hair loss treatment presents a non-surgical solution that can:Regrow areas of thinning hair

  • Regrow areas of thinning hair
  • Add natural, homogenous fullness to your scalp
  • Achieve long-lasting hair restoration results

How PRP For Hair Loss Works

Plasma contains growth factors that increase collagen production, stimulate new hair growth, regenerate tissue, rejuvenate the existing skin and hair, and decrease inflammation all to provide an optimal environment for healthier hair.

What Should I Expect During the Procedure?

During PRP hair restoration, a specialized numbing cream is applied to the area of the scalp undergoing treatment. Blood isdrawn from the arm and then carefully processed using a specialized centrifuge; this process separates the platelet rich plasma found in your blood sample from the accompanying red and white blood cells. Once isolated, the PRP is then prepared for injection into the scalp. Dr. Lopez will then use a very small needle to inject the plasma into areas of the scalp with thinning hair. This procedure should cause minimal discomfort.

When Will I See Results?

For optimal results, patients are advised to undergo 3 sets of treatment 8-12 weeks apart with a 4th maintenance treatment. Results will ultimately depend on the patient. We advise vitamin supplementation and specialized hair care to enhance optimal results. You can expect to see long-lasting improvements to the fullness and thickness of your hair beginning in the following 3-6 months, with results continuing up to a full year for some patients. Additional PRP hair treatments may be required in order to achieve best results.
