Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is abnormal excess sweating not necessarily related to heat or exercise. Sweating may soak through clothes and drip off of the hands or feet. Not only does this disrupt daily activities but also causes significant social anxiety and emotional distress.

Diagnosis is made with a history and physical exam. Treatment usually begins with strong antiperspirants. In cases refractory to topical medications, other therapies exist to help manage the sweating. Our office offers FDA approved neurotoxin injections that block a chemical that stimulates sweat glands. The procedure takes 30 minutes to perform. Results are noticeable 2 weeks after treatment and can last an average of 6 months. A vast majority of patients are extremely happy with this form of treatment.
